JoBloggs on the Song of Songs

My sister in law is blogging on the Song of Songs this week. Take a look if you're feeling brave.

I was feeling brave!
Out of a deep sense of admiration for 'taking her courage in both hands', I decided to follow Jo on her journey. You really should take a look! It's good stuff (though that's hardly suprising considering who's writing!)
I particularly liked the inclusion of your lyrics, Simone. Definitely up there with modern pop expression of sensual passion ... not sure what people would think if they were sung in a Christian church service or Christian event. Should we care if people would be uncomfortable? Why / Why not?
I know people who've had some of the more explicit parts of the Song read at their wedding. It always results in people shifting nervously in their seats and you can generally hear a pin drop in these uncomfortable moments. I guess singing the lyrics you've written at a wedding could be one way of allleviating that nervousness (or at least lessening it!), while still relating the pleasure of love shared between a man and a woman as expressed in Song of Songs.

Perhaps there are times and places for people to be made to feel uncomfortable about these things... Not sure if the sunday service is one of them.

Perhaps during a wedding reception (when everyone has had a few drinks and is feeling less inhibited...)

Glad you liked my lyrics.
